Overview

TRC Companies, Inc., serves a broad range of clients in electric and gas utilities, industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.

TRC is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our team. The Business Analyst will support our Intelligent Grid Solutions team with the deployment of various softwares to our utility clients.

The Business Analyst will work with TRC project teams and clients to understand and document client As-Is and To-Be business processes using various tools (Vision, Linq etc.). The Business Analysts will also develop and manage the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) for project(s).


Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering - Manage requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation processes, including Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), to capture business and end user needs for technology solution design and build.
  • Prioritization - Prioritize needs within and across projects based on business impact and groom the backlog
  • Collaborate with software developers, data engineers and scientists - Engage with software developers, engineers, and architects to communicate business vision and priorities
  • Benefits & outcomes tracking - Elicit metrics and KPIs to track towards benefits for technology projects. Measure and report outcomes towards the metrics and KPIs tracked.
  • Validate - Test the data solutions towards the requirements and completeness.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders - Works with peers and business stakeholders to identify the business requirements and expected outcomes. With peer and business stakeholder support, models and frames meaningful and impactful business scenarios for critical business processes and/or decisions.
  • Analyze Solution - Assists in designing and developing solutions to improve how business is conducted and increases throughput through operational efficiencies. Being able to analyze data to provide inputs to business towards data driven decision making. Shares solution quality/testing findings with product owners, and supports quality definition and standards.
  • Educate - Follow the overall best practices and guidelines in documenting requirements, test scenarios, test cases and metrics tacking. Fill in gaps and suggests improvements as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school or university is required.
  • 1 - 5 years of experience performing a similar role
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative nature and willing to share knowledge across broader team while contributing to reusable collateral
  • Clear and timely communication internally and externally
  • Ability to interact with the Client team, including project sponsors and other stakeholders
  • Looks for ways to improve the delivery process, reduce issues/rework, and improve customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Project)
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and data

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Linq business process software
  • Experience with JIRA for user story development, tracking requirements tracking and test scenarios
  • Experience with agile and lean principles
  • Knowledge of the utility business and/or IT environments

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $84,906.00 - USD $107,000.00 /Yr.
