JRAD is seeking candidates for a Senior IT Specialist position responsible for the support and oversight of complex mission critical IT systems and services. This individual serves as a subject matter expert, providing high-level technical guidance and support for the operation and maintenance of existing IT systems. The role also includes managing cross-functional projects, improving IT operations, and ensuring compliance with federal or industry standards. The position is a remote/telework position with frequent on-site meetings at the TSA HQs (Springfield, VA).

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, deployment, and maintenance of an existing IT enterprise system to include Software resources..
  • Serve as the escalation point for resolving advanced technical issues across systems, networks, and applications.
  • Oversee configuration and change management processes, ensuring proper documentation and system integrity.
  • Support end-user services, including troubleshooting and improving support operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and vendors to align IT services with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance; implement proactive measures to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system outages and incidents.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and application developers to integrate and support mission-critical services
  • Mentor junior IT staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide support and mentoring to junior developers and database administrators.

Required Skills and Education:

Candidate must possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience in infrastructure, systems, or application support roles.
  • Current experience with TSA's Security Technology Integration Program (STIP) is required for this contract.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Hands-on experience with networking technologies (e.g., firewalls, switches, routing protocols, VPNs).
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Experience with ITIL-based service management and help desk systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior IT staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. government security clearance.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CISSP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or ITIL Foundation.
  • Experience working in or supporting government or defense-related environments.
  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, SCCM).
  • Background in supporting compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, RMF, or CMMC.
  • Preference for Tier III help desk experience.

Security Clearance:

Candidate must:

  • Be able to pass DHS suitability screening or DHS financial responsibility standards.
  • Have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance. Existing Secret Clearance is a plus.
