Job Summary Develop and execute commodity strategy with your team of Sr. Buyer/Planners and Buyers. This strategy is to ensure a strong supply line at the most optimum Total Cost of Ownership. Implement commodity strategy at multiple manufacturing sites globally. Work with other cross-functional team to positively impact the Key Metrics like OTD, Cost Savings, and Quality. Perform Spend Analysis and rationalization to build and manage supplier relations. Conduct audits, QBRs and other formal/informal sessions. Negotiate and formalize short- or long-term contracts with key suppliers.
Essential Functions
Identify sources of high-quality products and services at competitive market prices. Perform supplier audits/meetings both domestic and international. Will be required to create and execute in depth "Requests for Proposal" that contain data driven and process-oriented sourcing project plans. Development of solid fact-based Global Commodity Strategies. Evaluate and monitor supply chain to identify risk that could potentially interrupt material availability. Implement projects to mitigate these risks. Manage a team of buyers/sr. buyers/specialists to develop and achieve the business objectives and functional team goals Negotiate and execute contracts (Pricing, VMI etc.). Maintain high levels of effective communication and professionalism with co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers, etc. Evaluate industry/market trends, develop risk assessments, identify business best practices, and draw conclusions to present appropriate recommendations to management. Central point of expertise and knowledge for procurement related activities Manage the RFx process including development of sourcing and negotiation strategies through contracting and vendor management. Develop TCO models and decipher complex pricing to deliver comprehensive financial analyses. Safeguard all contracts as part of the contract administration function. Independently lead and accurately complete various contract agreements. Lead negotiations and drafting contracts based on business requirements while incorporating legal templates, applicable mandatory contract terms and regulatory language. Share accountability for business results by identifying and implementing strategies and solutions that improve business performance. Lead and identify continuous improvement/cost reductions on a regular and proactive basis (i.e. supplier rationalization, demand management, and other proactive opportunities). Develop strategies to achieve Sourcing and Purchasing objectives, including process and cost efficiencies. Communicate results to head of Global Sourcing and seeking upper management support when necessary.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or equivalent degree preferred. 9+ years of experience in Indirect/Direct Strategic Sourcing. Experience Consulting or in Medical Device Industry. Supplier performance management, contract negotiation, and cost management experience. Has successfully managed negotiations including international suppliers, adversarial supplier relationships and disruptive supply situations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong project management and organizational skills - able to manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously. Analytical capabilities (data analysis and benchmarking research). PowerPoint skills (generate compelling and powerful presentations). Basic understanding of Continuous Improvement tools (including Pareto Charts, Flow Diagrams, etc.). Supply market knowledge, Supply market research, and analysis. Ability to influence without direct authority. Strong written and verbal presentation skills. Microsoft Office proficiency Ability to travel domestic and internationally
