Introduction

Virginia Cooperative Extension - Loudoun (Extension Services) is seeking a Financial Literacy Educator. This is a full-time position funded by the Loudoun County Government. Extension Services is a combined state and county office located in Leesburg, Virginia.

The Loudoun County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) is the local connection to Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University. VCE helps the people of Loudoun County improve their lives through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, that focus on:

* Promoting Natural Resources Conservation and Stewardship
* Increasing the Sustainability of Agricultural Operations
* Improving Our Food System
* Nutrition and Health of Families
* Financial Literacy Education
* Improving Youth Wellbeing by Teaching Life Skills


Job Summary

This position focuses on financial literacy education programming for Loudoun County residents with an emphasis on empowering participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to secure financial stability and improve overall financial well-being. Program topics include budgeting, saving, credit management and other essential financial topics. This position coordinates the recruitment, training, and deployment of volunteers to assist in the delivery of programming and partners with other Loudoun County departments and agencies to achieve these objectives. Specifically, the Financial Literacy Educator position will:

* Implement and deliver research-based financial education to diverse audiences to increase financial literacy.
* Document training and maintain records of provided training.
* Conduct community education and outreach to raise public awareness of financial literacy education.
* Identify methods and venues to share information about programs and activities.
* Maintain and monitor inventory of related program supplies and educational materials.
* Utilize appropriate technologies to plan and deliver educational programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, media, one-on-one visits, and other methods.
* Recruit, train, lead, manage, and retain volunteers.
* Assess community financial education needs by monitoring trends and issues, involving local stakeholders including interagency and collaborative bodies, and design appropriate programs to expand program reach.
* Develop and implement evaluation plans to assess program effectiveness for future programming needs.
* Report impacts, outcomes to clientele, public, administrators and other key stakeholder


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Financial Planning, Personal Finance, Banking and Finance, Social Work with a focus on planning, budgeting, or life coaching or related discipline
OR
Two years of experience in financial counseling AND one or more of the following certifications:
* Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
* Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
* Financial Education Instructor Certification
* Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
* Other Personal Finance or Financial Literacy Certifications

A Master's degree is preferred but not required
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal background check is required. DMV check is required. A DMV check requires valid driver's license (will be subject to an annual driving record review).
