Opto-Electronic Integration Researcher

The ideal candidate is an expert in photonic devices, 2.5D and 3D packaging and sub-system integration. You are excited to build a strong research program in dense electronic and photonic co-integration for future communications and computation. You are passionate to see your research work become a part of the future communications and computing/AI infrastructure of the world.

You are highly motivated and able to carry out creative research programs both individually and in collaboration with other researchers across the global Nokia Bell Labs team. You will work with and learn from world experts in advanced photonic device and integration technologies located at the Murray Hill, NJ campus.

• Conduct research to create novel, state-of-the-art devices for optical communications, quantum networking, and photonic computing,
• Present research findings through papers and oral presentations both within the organization and to the external research community.
• Share responsibility for overseeing the maintenance and operation of nano-fabrication equipment and facilities.

Your skills and experience:

• A PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related field,
• Strong record of disruptive research in academia and/or industry, including scientific/technical publications and/or patents,
• Ability to define and pursue a research program in synergy with a larger team.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.

It would be nice if you also have experience with:

• Opto-electronic packaging and assembly for high-speed transceiver applications.
• 2.5/3D semiconductor integration technologies, including chip stacking, flip-chip bonding, etc.
• High-speed optical and electronic design, test, and measurement tools/software.
• Silicon and CMOS wafer fabrication methods and techniques.
