Senior Director of Strategic Pricing

The Senior Director of Strategic Pricing Reports to the Vice President of Pricing & Packaging, and is a member of a team that develops, implements, and refines the global pricing and packaging strategies for PTC's solutions. The Senior Director will immerse themselves in data to ensure that customer needs, PTC's financial objectives, and product requirements are aligned to pricing and monetization approaches. The role will partner extensively with cross-functional teams, including Product and Sales leaders, to gain alignment and enable execution. Using a data-driven approach, the Senior Director influences and leads strategic pricing initiatives and monetization strategy.

Ideal candidate has deep bench of pricing experience, knows how to design for impacts on the organization, relentlessly curious and looking for points of impact, is energized by ambiguity and can communicate throughout the organization.

Day-To-Day:

You are the strategic pricing leader for a $2.4B organization. Baseline responsibility is lead strategic pricing forums, conversions, topics, and decisions. You have a strategy process, range of tools, and are able to communicate effective across the organization. lead product teams through strategy process, champion transitions to SaaS

  • Guide: Alignment of the pricing roadmap to customer needs and business needs
  • Prepare: Pricing definition for all future monetizable product capabilities, strategic technology partnerships, and solution offerings
  • Facilitate: Product and engineering alignment on pricing deliverables and execution within portfolio planning process
  • Simplify: Drive pricing simplifications for our customers and field selling organizations
  • Accelerate: Growth in ARR, breadth of purchase, transition to a SaaS business model
  • Balance: objectives and strategies across multiple business units and multiple GTM channels, visibility will be critical
  • Growth: Constantly strive to improve the financial performance of product and solutions offerings through continuous evaluation of product pricing performance, business model mix, and related behaviors contributing to customer LTV
  • Monetization - Determine best monetization strategies and maximize price, margin, and growth opportunities, partner with BU leads to drive execution
  • Intellectual leadership: partner with others to generate new, innovative ideas. Be the specialist on a range of B2B, marketplace, and SaaS packaging & pricing models. Be the pricing leader on all AI topics
  • Proactive: Stay ahead of the curve by defining a pricing roadmap, conducting market research, exploring technology solutions, growth opportunities (AI). and interlock with key stakeholders to solicit feedback
  • Efficient: work with pricing operations, IT, and analytics functions to create a strategically excellent pricing environment across price books, pricing structures, order management, etc. own pricing strategy requirements across the organization
  • Prepare: business unit leaders for exec level pricing proposals, changes, and direction setting

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of value-based pricing theories and analytical methodologies
  • Ability to solve complex problems and communicate output data and concepts simply and concisely to inform business decisions
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty by merging flexibility with structure and prioritization
  • Organized with high bias-for-action: Ability to articulate and translate concepts into action plan
  • Effective communication skills: Regularly achieve consensus with peers, and guide decisions with Senior Executives
  • Ready ability to discern and articulate key business model changes and the pricing required to support (i.e. SaaS transition, AI opportunities)
  • Clear talent in the ability to see ahead but act now
  • Product management and/or consulting experience a significant plus

Required Experience:

  • 14+ years of experience in enterprise technology industry across strategic planning, pricing, product management / strategy, and/or management consulting
  • Cloud/SaaS pricing experience required
  • Deep understanding of B2B SaaS and on-prem software dynamics
  • 10+ years of experience developing and leading pricing and/or business planning teams
  • Demonstrated leadership experience driving complex initiatives including cross-functional and often remote teams
  • Experience facilitating pricing research including conjoint and other direct pricing studies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or an equivalent required
  • MBA degree strongly preferred
