Courses focus on basic automotive service skills, automotive components, systems, theories, and testing procedures. Incarcerated students choose one of three areas as an emphasis: internal combustion engines, air conditioning, or braking systems. Essential Functions 70% - Provides student assessment and classroom training in automotive courses to incarcerated students; plans, organizes and assigns the work of staff; provides instruction to students in vocational or occupational subjects in accordance with established competencies; monitors work performance of students, as assigned. 10% - Assists in planning, developing and implementing outcome-based automotive courses . 10% - Develops written syllabi, course outlines and student evaluations when required. Evaluates and selects instructional materials appropriate to class and environment. Performs other duties as directed to meet Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) contract requirements. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in area of assignment. Some assignments may require an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or higher depending on field of instruction. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Five (5) years experience directly related to the automotive field to be taught B. Experience in teaching and/or training C. Experience working with the incarcerated population OR other underserved populations OR with adults in re-entry or transition D. ASE Industry certifications Special Working Conditions Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs. Will be required to obtain an Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) clearance. Process may involve personally invasive questionnaire, and extensive background check. Position in located at ASPC Perryville..
