Mechanical Hardware Engineer

Lexmark is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Development Team. This position will work alongside the Product team in developing a world class mono & color printing device. The candidate must work well in a team environment, take direction, provide input, and collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in the design and development of components and mechanical systems
  • Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings of components, including appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerances, and material selection
  • Carry designs from concept through to production, taking into account design for manufacturability and design for cost
  • Analyze functional relationships and conduct tolerance stack analysis between mating parts in both static and dynamic systems
  • Responsible for testing and evaluating design concepts thru prototype builds and collection of test data
  • Analyze test data and provide recommendation for design proposals
  • Participate in design reviews and cost analysis, and be responsible for initiating engineering change reviews
  • Develop assembly drawings and method-of-assembly documentation to support the Manufacturing team
  • Perform root-cause analysis of component or system failures in PPQA testing

Expectations:

  • 3D CAD experience required, NX preferred
  • Experience in the design of plastic and/or stamped metal components
  • Strong familiarity with data analysis through Excel or other tools
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis and understanding structural loads
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers
  • Understands schedules and team deliverables, produces output aligned with program timelines
  • Flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical potential

Qualifications/Requirements

  • B.S or M.S in Mechanical Engineering
  • Upcoming graduates or those with 1-3 years of experience in product design are encouraged to apply
