HIA was established in 2021 as a 501 (c)3 organization and associated medical group. Utilizing mobile clinics staffed by healthcare professionals, community health workers, and social workers, our teams travel directly to unhoused individuals living in communities across California, providing services where they reside - including tents, cars, shelters and temporary housing. In meeting patients where they are and supporting their goals, HIA team members build trust which is a critical component that can lead to meaningful and positive changes in health and housing.

The Mental Health Specialist will support HIA employees by providing informational, educational, and supportive services. Help develop an educational curriculum and expand the knowledge base of peer navigators and other clinical staff on topics related to mental health. Provide direct patient care in Culver City to Healthcare in Action's unhoused patient population through the provision of mental health assessment and treatment. Educate patients, staff, and community members to enhance mental health and decrease stigma.

**Must be license eligible. This is a full-time, M-F 8-5 position in Culver City**

Responsibilities include:




    • Provide short-term mental health treatment to selected clients including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, interventions (individual, group, couples and/or family), collateral contacts, and discharge/aftercare planning.
    • Educate patients regarding mental health issues by delivering informational materials and facilitating educational and supportive groups to this population in community settings.
    • Develop and provide an educational series aimed at improving their skillsets in working with patients with severe mental health illness. Identify peer navigator's mental health knowledge gaps.
    • Support HIA employees by providing group sessions to improve coping skills as needed.
    • Develop and maintain professional relationships in the community to better serve clients and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues.
    • Represent Healthcare in Action in a professional manner by engaging with clients and others, communicating effectively both individually and in a group setting and demonstrating quality customer service.
    • Maintain confidential information by following all HIPAA regulations, policy and procedures, compliance and regulatory directives and by completing required documentation in a timely, professional and accurate manner.
    • Actively support the achievement of HIA's Vision and Goals.
    • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and experience:





    • Master's Degree in mental health or related field, required.
    • MSW or MFT with eligibility for licensure, required.
    • 2+ years in a mental health or clinical environment.
    • Previous experience with displaced or unhoused populations preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in mental health assessments, treatment planning, care management, and clinical interventions.
    • Familiar with evidence-based intervention models.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated customer focus; proactively finds ways to exceed customer needs.
    • Ability to multitask and work with limited supervision.
    • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
    • Requires proof of Valid Driver's License.
    • Must maintain State Liability Insurance.
    • Must have access to a vehicle.
