Job Description

  • Job Summary:


The Quality Engineer III position at Mercury Systems offers an opportunity to contribute to the quality organization of a leading supplier of micro-electronic assemblies. The qualified candidate will act as the Quality point of contact for both the Peachtree, GA and Marriottsville, MD facilities championing our efforts to improve compliance across all facets of the organization. This is a hands-on role that works with a team of quality engineers, technicians and inspectors that are engaged through the entire life cycle of product, starting during development, continuing with transitioning of product to manufacturing, and then supporting the continuous manufacture of product.

Job Responsibilities:



  • The Quality Assurance Engineer will act as the Quality Program Lead for multiple design, development, and production programs
  • The Quality Program Lead is responsible for assuring the program(s) meet plans, processes, specifications, and contractual requirements
  • During manufacturing, this role works to improve process capability, repeatability, and efficiency as well as product quality by working with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and the customer
  • This role will focus on delivering quality product that meets customer requirements, identifying opportunities for yield improvement, process improvement, and product cost-reduction methods
  • Prevent defects through use of process, supplier, manufacturing, and quality controls
  • Ensure product compliance through a comprehensive set of functional tests and inspections
  • Lead the qualification of new suppliers and internal processes
  • Assist in the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing processes, through lean concepts and Six Sigma, while driving a lean quality culture
  • Lead a robust root-cause and corrective action process, working with engineering, suppliers and customers
  • Participate in the effective review, implementation, and flow down of changes (ECOs) into manufacturing and the supply chain, including material disposition actions
  • Drive efficient processing of customer RMAs, effective failure analysis via ETQ, and responsive communication to customers
  • Interface and communicate with customers regularly, providing quality status as required
  • Prepare and deliver quality reviews with management, peer groups and customers
  • Review customer score cards and ensure alignment of improvement initiatives to customer satisfaction; drive 8D corrective action
  • Promote adherence to the Quality Management System (IS09001), and drive improvements
  • Monitor and drive COPQ initiatives (Scrap reduction, escapes, RMA)
  • Manage and report out on MRB activities with follow-up status and actions
  • Interact daily with Engineering and Production to monitor production yields and drive improvement actions
  • Manage the ESD and FOD Programs as necessary


Required Qualifications:



  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in the Quality Assurance of electro-mechanical engineering in an ISO9001/ AS9100 manufacturing environment
  • Experience with MMIC technology (amplifiers, attenuators, filters, switches, etc)
  • Familiarity with IPC Industry Standards
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate openly and effectively to provide real-time feedback
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to travel periodically minimally


Preferred Qualifications:



  • J-STD-001 Class 3 and/or IPC 610 certified
  • Customer-Focused, "Zero-Defect" Mindset
  • Documentation abilities
  • Computer literacy
  • Industry-Relevant Quality Inspection or Control experience
  • Willingness to cross train in multiple Quality areas
