Job Summary

The Principal Strategy Advisor plays several key roles on the Corporate Strategy team. They lead projects and are responsible for critical analyses that informs the 3-year strategic plan for Surescripts. The Principal Strategy Advisor leverages their highly developed quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, knowledge of Surescripts' market segments, the know-how as to how to gather and coordinate competitive intelligence-gathering, and an understanding of how to run a corporate strategy review and planning process for a multi-sided network business. A key aspect of this role is interacting and collaborating with the Surescripts Executive Team and departments across the enterprise, including but not limited to: Finance, Product Innovation, and Legal. The Principal Strategy Advisor is frequently requested to oversee or take part in special projects, ranging from those requested by the Chief Growth Officer to those from the CEO and/or the Board of Directors. This role has high visibility with leadership across the company.

Responsibilities Market, Regulatory, and Competitive Monitoring and Analysis
  • Research and deeply understand healthcare and health IT industry dynamics and the relevance to Surescripts and its constituents
  • Review regulatory and SEC filings, and perform financial statement analysis and economic modeling of publicly traded industry constituents
  • Leverage scenario analyses to develop competitive positioning assessments
  • Provide periodic reporting, evaluation and insight on company-specific and market trends to the Executive Team to inform day-to-day operations, customer engagement and product investments
  • Collaborate with internal Product Innovation, Customer, Finance, Regulatory and Legal teams to monitor emerging trends, threats, and technology shifts and provide assessment to CEO and Executive Team

Strategy Review Process

  • Synthesize insights from market, regulatory, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats to business
  • Lead and support as necessary projects to analyze Surescripts' internal performance
  • Conduct root cause analysis of underperforming strategic actions and propose rehabilitation strategies for leaders
  • Support Director of Corporate Strategy to run a disciplined annual process with the Executive Team to review Surescripts' strategic plan
  • Support development and communication the company's Strategy to the Board of Directors, Executive Team and employees

New Market & Commercial

  • Based on market analysis, evaluate new markets and identify entry options, including how to engage strategic partners
  • Serve as a strategy, market, and multi-sided network expert on issues ranging from business model development to recommending pricing or incentive structures
  • Engage with customers to investigate market problem and the impact new solutions on their business
  • Develop quantitative models for scenarios based on price elasticity, network and competitor dynamics and other considerations
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related business or healthcare field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in related, progressive roles
  • 4+ years of experience working on large complex projects
  • 3+ years of experience of financial, economic, operational or market analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or master's degree in a related business or healthcare field.
  • Corporate Strategy or strategy / management consulting experience with a top tier firm
  • Experience in healthcare domain
  • Ability to communicate with all levels
  • Comfort in working on projects of varying scope and depth, from executing on urgent CEO requests to conducting long term research projects

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $151,700 - $185,400 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
