DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Housekeeping at Torrance State Hospital plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various areas, including examination rooms, patient quarters, laboratories, and public spaces. Key responsibilities involve mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping floors, as well as cleaning windows, dusting furniture, and ensuring proper waste disposal. Additionally, staff are tasked with replenishing bathroom supplies, rearranging items as necessary, refinishing floors, and conducting deep cleaning when required.

The position demands significant physical activity, including prolonged standing, bending, and lifting, making physical fitness essential for performing these duties effectively. To ensure safety, it is vital to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), operate cleaning equipment correctly, and utilize the right cleaning supplies to prevent injuries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Rotating weekends, will work approximately every fourth weekend with days off during the week. Holidays are in rotation by seniority.
  • This position may require overtime and travel.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
