Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager will have the focus area of payroll and is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate and timely accounting and financial principles, practices and procedures for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, as well as oversight of quarterly and annual payroll taxes and reconciliations related to payroll and benefits.



  • Responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals to develop and administer the accounting systems, practices and controls of acceptable accounting processes.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Achieves accounting objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Manages and reviews all payroll and benefits balance sheet accounts for US entities.
  • Reviews and maintains multi-state quarterly and annual taxes as well as approves tax payments to ensure no payments are missed, payments are prepared accurately, on time and no penalties are assessed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly and year-end financial information.
  • Collaborate with other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Analyzes complex financial reports and records.
  • Directs internal and external audits to ensure compliance is being met consistently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
  • CPP is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience in payroll/benefits accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, ADP Vantage as well as Blackline and Hyperion systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger and payroll.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of their work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.


Work Environment:



  • Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
