Job Title: Manufacturing Production Associate (MPA) 1

Department: Production

Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary:

The MPA 1 is vital to our success. The role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with the work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.

The MPA 1 will be taught how to undertake their tasks safely, and to a high-quality level, through a rigorous Job Instruction process, and will attain the relevant certification necessary to become a MPA2, as measured by the job skills competence matrix.

The MPA 1 will be fully supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable their training and coaching, and quickly respond to them if they find any off standard / quality issues.

They will be expected to actively identify safety concerns (Hazard identification), make problems immediately known to their TL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas to solve problems (Kaizen).

They will be part of a team that will collectively work on creating a 'Great Place to Work' through a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue

Responsibilities: As a Manufacturing Production Associate (MPA) 1 you will:

  • Contribute to the team in creating a "Great Place to Work" by role-modelling safety-first, a Kaizen mind-set, and supporting their colleagues.
  • Hold yourself, and team members, accountable to embody the United Safety PASSION Values.
  • Undertake all tasks in compliance with the standard work and training, and make any problems; safety, quality, or otherwise, immediately known to TL.
  • Exemplify safety first mindset and follow all United Safety Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Understand your team's People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost Key Performance Indicators and your contribution to their attainment.
  • Become certified at the Lean Awareness level and implement at least 1 Kaizen per month.
  • Support the TL in problem solving, contributing ideas based upon experience of your tasks.
  • Are an active member of the team, promoting collective engagement.
  • Comply with all legal/regulatory requirements and company policies as well as individual responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Attain MPA2 status and be Lean Awareness Certified within 8 weeks.

Requirements

You're a great fit for this position if this describes you;

  • Have earned a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess excellent time management skills.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Are physically able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Can occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Are able to or willing to learn and become certified to drive a fork truck.
  • Have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Are committed to the rigorous adherence to standardized work.
  • Achieve a Gallup assessment score for the role of the Potential or High Potential Level.
  • Have a track record of Kaizen implementation.
  • Have experience working within a Lean Operating Model / Production System.
  • Can perform in a fast-paced environment, while responding to change favorably and quickly.
  • Safety is at the forefront of your mind, and you follow all policies to promote a safe working environment at United Safety.
  • Bring with you a positive attitude and the ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Help United Safety operate effectively by adhering to attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Understand that you are part of a growing company, you have no concerns with and are able to work extended hours/over-time as needed as well as some Saturdays to support that growth.
