SALES CONSULTANT
Summary:
Optimizes margin opportunities with new and existing customers in target markets where customer base includes small, medium and large industrial, commercial and institutional customers. Build relationships with key trade partners (general contractors, builders, developers) to maximize the use of natural gas equipment in new construction.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support in the development and implementation of the strategic business plans to promote the use of natural gas in new construction
- Effectively promote the value of natural gas and energy efficiency programs through sales calls and visits to educate and present the energy efficiency programs in order to meet the Company's goals and initiatives.
- Identifies and qualifies sales prospects, makes effective presentations and closes sales within an acceptable time frame, includingthrough various trade shows and associations such as builders and developers,Manages the on-going business relationships with assigned customer base by maintaining regular contact, promoting incremental products and services, resolving customer issues, negotiating creative customer solutions and renewing expiring contracts.Supports the internal service delivery system by working cooperatively and effectively with all members of the service delivery team and ensuring all necessary documents required are complete and accurate
- Seeks and recommends new products and services proactively, to increase profitability of existing and new customers.
- Advocating for customers with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Communicates effectively with customers on an on-going basis.
- Ability to interrupt civil, architectural and environmental plans to determine safe meter locations.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics or engineering from an accredited college or university, OR a combination of education and work experience to provide equivenet knowledge.
Experience:
1-3 years work experience is required.
Business consulative sales and marketing experience is essential with a strong understanding of the Natural Gas Industry or Energy Sales and new construction development is desirable.

- Able to use a laptop or personal computer and software, including email, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Able to analyze energy usage data and generate profitable and persuasive proposals.
- Able to persuasively explain multiple products to a diverse group of business customers .
- Able to function and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Able to understand and intelligently discuss commercial and industrial energy processes.
- Able to present packaged or customized sales offerings in a convincing manner.
- Able to structure sales proposals that profitably target individual customer needs.
- Able to plan, create and give professional presentations.
- Able to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Able to close sales in an acceptable time frame.
- Able to represent the company in a professional and ethical manner.
- Able to provide a valid state driver's license, present and maintain a safe driving record and to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to operate vehicle and comply with all governmental driving regulations and company driving policy requirements.
- Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer or laptop.
- Able to view screen or monitor for extended periods of time.
- Able to operate cellular telephone and office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, calculator, etc.
- Able to read, write and speak English.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time and walk intermittently.
- Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Working Conditions:
- Able to work in fast-paced office environment with a high volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require at times more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines including working nights or weekends, as required.
- Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
- Able to travel to appointments across territory to meet with customers and potential customers.
- Able to travel as necessary, with occasional overnight stay required.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
- Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan (EOP).
