Responsibilities
McDowell Center for Children (a UHS facility): McDowell Center is a 28-bed residential treatment facility located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes. https://mcdowellcenterforchildren.com/ POSITION SUMMARY: McDowell Center for Children is seeking a dynamic and talented Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician participates in maintaining a safe, functional, physical environment for patients, employees and guests and in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of McDowell Center for Children. Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: At least 5 years prior maintenance experience in a hospital, health care, or hospitality setting. Knowledge: General experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and air conditioning with experience in repairs and maintenance. Supervision Received: EOC Environmental Conditions: General hospital environment and outside weather conditions. Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. Exposure to equipment and cleaning products and fluids. Loss Control Safety Standards: I will adhere to all safety policies and safe work practices. I will attend hospital safety trainings. I will adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and report all accidents immediately to my supervisor. Physical Requirements: Heavy physical workload. Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Requires standing, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling and stooping throughout the shift. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre- employment urine drug screen. Job Classification: Non-Exempt; Hours vary based on staffing needs and include day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
