Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Quality Control Supervisor.

$80,000/yr. - $115,000/yr. -- DOE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Oversees, monitors, and actively performs the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
  • Establishes and reviews inspection protocols. Determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the inspection process.
  • Formulates and revises quality control policies and procedures.
  • Drives improvements in one or more areas of quality control (e.g. inspection, configuration management) and documents those improvements.

Requirements

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manages day to day responsibilities and sets priorities for SBIR quality inspectors. Able to perform all inspection tasks.
  • Trains inspectors as needed on inspection procedures of optics and other challenging materials and assemblies.
  • Works with management to improve quality control processes and improve data collection for future improvements.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; guiding and directing employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • This is a working manager position.


QUALIFICATIONS:

DESIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • BS/EE or 5 years equivalent experience related to quality control.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting capability and analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience with setting priorities and organizing incoming projects.


  • Experience reading engineering drawings.
  • Experience using mechanical measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, toolmaker's microscope, gauge blocks and pins


  • Electronics inspection experience (IPC-610-A certification a plus)
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Personal initiative to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Able to size work efforts appropriately and manage time effectively.
  • Able to work with little to no direction.



Direct experience with electronics, electromechanical systems, and/or electro-optical systems a plus.
