Overview

We are seeking a Pharmacist, internally referred to as our Inpatient Pharmacist, at St. Joseph Medical Center (Kansas City, MO), a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Pharmacist for our Inpatient Pharmacy you will work under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers to deliver optimal pharmaceutical care within the inpatient setting.

Shift's Available: Rotating shifts: day, evening and occasional weekends

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 8-hour rotating shift

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • visit with patients to obtain medication lists
  • review and verify medication orders for appropriateness, dosage, route and potential interactions
  • ensure orders are compliant with hospital protocols and patient-specific factors
  • oversee or assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including IV admixtures, unit-dose medications and controlled substances
  • accurately document all activities in the appropriate system or patient record
  • coordinates the activities of the pharmacy department to provide the highest quality of pharmaceutical care to all patients served by the hospital, while ensuring patient safety
  • the scope of patient care provided may include: General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics and Outpatient Services
  • approximately one weekend every 5 weeks, rotating through main pharmacy; clinical monitoring on the floors on the day shift


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • current state Registered Pharmacist License
  • BS Degree in Pharmacy
  • BLS certification required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • experience in hospital pharmacy operations
  • Doctor of Pharmacy
