Join Gynecologic Cancer Institute of Chicago, A Division of Affiliated Oncologists as a Physician Assistant! GCI specializes in gynecologic oncology for women desiring treatment, including surgery, in the suburbs of Chicago. Our AO colleagues specialize in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma, lung, breast, prostate, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible. This position is open to part-time or full-time candidates, hours may vary, who will be working with our gynecologic oncologists at our GCI location. Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. This position will be working with our gynecologic oncologists at our GCI location. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated. - May promote/provide staff education - Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls. - Evaluation and management of gynecologic oncology chemotherapy patients - Evaluation and management of postoperative gynecologic oncology patients - Surveillance cancer care and pelvic exams for gynecologic oncology patients - Other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program required. - Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification required. - 0-3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant required. - 3+ years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant preferred. - Previous experience in gynecologic oncology strongly preferred. - Previous experience with chemotherapy strongly preferred. - Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state required. - Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
