The general pay scale for this position at MOH is$20.81 - $36.03 per hour. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Job Profile Summary
Under minimal supervision coordinates and processes study budgets for all research trials utilizing sponsor's protocol. Drafts and prepares Medicare Coverage Analysis to build budgets in Excel or proprietary software to generate a cost analysis, for review by management. Maintains a list of all relevant vendor costs, and keeps up-to-date on pricing and payments from USOR, and Medicare. Works closely with sites and the Central Billing Department to determine routine costs and NSOC items of services associated with research protocols. Maintains or provides input to Research Billing Guides (RBG) for all protocols as needed to ensure site is aware of how to charge protocol-related services. Creates, maintains, and updates Case Report Forms (CRFs) as appropriate to ensure proper tracking and payment for services performed in research related activities. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing reimbursement guidelines for study related procedures.
  • Keeps up to date on payer coverage for services provided.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator, Research Manager, and members of the accounting /finance team to develop budgets that include all costs applicable to the specific study.
  • Provides financial oversight, budgeting, reporting, and analysis of assessments related to sponsored research activities and compensation. In addition, will work with practice staff to ensure correct billing and provide coverage review.
  • Assist manager with monthly management discussion and analysis of reports.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for capturing non-standard of care revenue related to clinical research.
  • Has full oversight of the Research Billing Guides and works with the Clinical Trial Manager regarding all study matters specific to billing. Prepares contracts documents and negotiate contract with pharmaceutical companies for independent trials.
  • Assists with the identification and implementation of policies and procedures related to Research finance process improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Education/Training -

  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field required, preferably experience with contract negotiation and finance or equivalent.
  • Five years of medical business office and/or clinical research finance experience preferred.

Business Experience -

  • Must have relevant experience preparing budgets

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Preferable to have experience with medical billing and electronic records.
  • Proven ability to ensure fiscal responsibility and payment terms.
  • Uses Technical and Functional Experience: Possesses up to date knowledge of the profession and industry
  • Is regarded as an expert in the technical/functional area; accesses and uses other expert resources when appropriate.
