Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000

The pay range is based on consideration of criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education and skills. Marquette Bank reserves the right to offer the selected applicant a salary commensurate with the applicant's qualification, experience, education and skills.

Position Summary:

The Loan Documentation Specialist is responsible for completing all activities related to the generation of loan documentation, funding, collateral perfection, exception resolution, and real estate construction project tracking, preparing collateral file and securing loan documentation file.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confirm loan presentation requests adhere to Loan Policy and have the proper approval authority.
  • Review and evaluate supporting documents provided by the Commercial Banking origination team (i.e. Entity Formation Documentation, UCC Searches, Flood Zone Determinations, Title Commitments, Appraisals, Surveys, Environmental Audits, Tenant Leases, all other forms required to document or secure the loan).
  • Prepare and review loan documents utilizing software.
  • When loan documents are prepared by outside counsel, forward supporting documentation to counsel and review documents prepared by counsel.
  • Review executed loan documents and verify that the documents are properly executed.
  • Set up file monitoring in tickler systems.
  • Forward documentation to the proper recording office to record and perfect the Bank's lien on collateral.
  • Resolve documentation exceptions listed in system.
  • Process and balance construction draw requests for funding internally or through a title company construction escrow.
  • Assist in reviewing loan policies, procedures, strategies and delivery systems utilized in the loan documentation process.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity initiatives as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly department report.
  • Actively comply with all applicable laws and regulations to include the Bank Secrecy Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and all other deposit, lending, or non-deposit service regulations; adhering to the Bank's internal policies, procedures, and risk management responsibilities contained in the Employee Handbook, the Employee Code of Conduct, and other applicable policies.

Knowledge/Abilities/Experience and Training Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or certification in Business Law, Business Finance or Commercial Real Estate Lending.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with commercial real estate loan documentation, construction loan documentation and commercial loan documentation.
  • Working knowledge of bank operations, systems and regulatory guidelines.
  • Self-motivated and willingness to implement changes to improve bank performance.
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Ability to handle and complete multiple tasks under time constraints.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to handle difficult and sensitive business situations.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • The employee may be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities necessary for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
