Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

Role

PDW is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team, contributing to Quality Assurance and Engineering Programs. The ideal candidate will thrive working in an innovative and fast-paced work environment, have excellent critical thinking skills, and will play a pivotal role in the review of current drawing and inspection documentation. Will be assigned focused project of reviewing mechanical part drawings, identifying drawing deficiencies/improvements, and updating drawing inspection data sheets.

This position will report to the Director of Quality Assurance. The position working hours will be 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday for the summer period of 2025.

Responsibilities

• Review company configuration management software and ensure Item Master, drawing, step file part revisions and part inspection sheets are aligned
• Review Mechanical Engineering drawings and identify missing information
• Log all drawing improvement requests into matrix
• Review and revise part Dimensional Inspection Report (DIR)
• Will track progress and give weekly progress report to management

Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge of interpreting Engineering part drawings
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, SharePoint and software platforms
• Ability to work with or without supervision
• Ability to communicate to cross functional groups when required
• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course of study in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about regularly throughout the day and lift / carry up to 25 pounds. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.

Work Environment

This position typically operates in a standard office setting and manufacturing environment. This position may have exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the environment. This is a fast-paced work environment and requires cross departmental collaboration with independent and team-based responsibilities. Standard works hours for this position are 7:00AM - 3:30PM with occasional overtime as operational needs demand.

ITAR Requirement
