Description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Responsible for the preparation and project coordination of engineering designs, economic justification and installation of electric/gas distribution systems and specifications for various projects. Effectively works and interacts with regional and field operations. Performs studies and related activities. Provides support to engineering staff as needed.

Level I Applies basic engineering techniques for entry-level assignments with review and guidance from a higher level.

Level II Applies standard engineering methods and techniques to solve problems; moderate guidance and direction is provided and work is normally reviewed from a high level


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Engineer I: ($71,460 - $89,330)



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical)


Engineer II: ($82,150- $102,690)



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical); and
  • Two years related work experience.


Engineer III: ($94,460 - $118,080)



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical); and
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience and understanding in the energy industry utility electric and gas operations, maintenance, design and project management.


Engineer Sr: ($114,580 - $143,220)



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Electrical); and
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience and understanding in the energy industry utility electric and gas operations, maintenance, design and project management.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Prior engineering experience in electric utility.
  • Training and proficiency in business application software such as Engineering Analysis programs, CAD, GIS, surveying principles and J.D. Edwards
  • An EI (Engineering Intern or EIT (Engineering in Training) Certificate


Level III/Sr:



  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) designation


JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Level I/II:



  • Provides engineering designs, specifications, support service, cost estimates and project management for electric construction projects and other projects of technical nature.
  • Prepares construction authorizations, maps, forms, permits, and other documents relating to construction and maintenance of project equipment. Prepares work orders and purchase orders as needed.
  • Recommends changes to policies, practices, standards, and procedures that may enhance efficiency, reliability, or safety.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards and code of Federal Regulations.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.


Level III/Sr:




  • Project manager of large and complex projects and facilities. Prepares scope, establishes schedules, detailed cost estimates and budget, creates and manages project team, reviews and manages outside consultants and contractors, creates bid documents, evaluates and awards bids, documents change management.



  • Assist in the preparation of the corporate capital budget for all engineering responsibilities, including reinforcement, replacement, and relocation projects.


  • Assist in the development of design, installation, operation, maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry standards and Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Provides direction to department staff in absence of department manager. Provide technical, informational, and recommendations to management.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS




  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Moderate travel requirements (25%).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
