Job Summary:

Extrusion supervisor will ensure frontline leadership and production personnel responsibilities are being performed safely in accordance with policy, up to and including (but not limited to) ensuring employees are wearing proper PPE according to the JSA for the position/task being performed. (Example: hard hat, gloves, long-sleeved company issued shirts, face shield, safety glasses, hearing protection, footwear etc.) Extrusion supervisor will manage, give direction, and positively motivate the department's employees to support a culture of good housekeeping and organization. Achieve high performance through cultivating a team atmosphere, and continually improve press performance through efficient time management, high standards for quality, and self-accountability, safely. Supervisory positions may encompass differentiating responsibilities and doesn't necessarily maintain one structure set to define the position.

Required Education/Experience:


  • 5+ years of Manufacturing experience, preferably in the aluminum extrusion industry.





  • 3+ years of Leadership experience.





  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent Engineering Degree preferred or combination of technical school and experience



Job Responsibilities:

* Implement, sponsor, and support all continuous reliability improvement standards and practices.

* Knowledge of department targets and goals.

* Implement, sponsor and support all continuous reliability improvement standards and practices.

* Attends SPC meetings prepared, engaged, and participates in developing frontline leadership through open and transparent communication on various topics.

* Optimize press performance through continuous improvement efforts, minimization of dead cycle time, downtime and creation of Standardized Work / JSA's.

* Support scheduled Preventative Maintenance of the press line.

* Safely optimizes press uptime, scrap rates, productivity, and performance through adherence to policy, procedures, and systems such as run to recipe.

* Leads/manages department employees and operations to safely optimize press uptime, scrap rates, productivity, and performance through adherence to policy, procedures, and systems such as run to recipe.

* Manages daily email communication efficiently and effectively with a strong sense of prioritization.

* Understands product dimensions, finish, and quality in relation to customer print, tolerance, and internal expectations, and supports frontline leadership as needed.

* Reviews product hold items 2-5 time per week to assure non-conforming material is dispositioned in a timely manner and drives sustainability within this process. May help as needed depending on 'flow' or business continuity needs.

* Helps frontline leadership analyze non-conforming material as needed/requested to identify root cause and potential solutions to implement, and/or involves extrusion process coordinator/engineering for improvement initiatives.

* Helps develop frontline leadership and new team members to achieve personal performance potential as needed.

* Manages/drives foresight on product flow through the plant via rack counts and ability to control/manage business continuity.

* Understanding of Oracle and SCS operating systems.

* Understands department flow, including lot tickets, press schedules, tooling, log inventory levels, material handing at the saw, and through the age oven.

* Supports press schedule and adheres to customer demand/needs through frontline leadership.

* Initiates, prioritizes, and successfully identifies/takes on projects to improve department performance through people or process.

* Enters work orders and/or obtains resources needed when equipment operations are defective, or issues occur and communicates downtime events and length of estimated downtime to Extrusion Operations Manager on occurrences >/= 1-hour.

* Manages shift changes and manning levels to assure efficient press operations as scheduled.

* Streamlines communication to frontline leadership/crews as needed.

* Always uses employees effectively through productive time management of personnel, shares work force as need from press to press ensuring personnel is receiving the appropriate breaks per facility requirements.

* Responsible for weekly manning schedules including OT and posting in a timely manner, as assigned.
