Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Licensing, Contracts & Litigation Specialist to join the Legal Department at Ryan Companies. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of business and contractor licensing, to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will be proactive in maintaining current licenses, securing new licenses, and staying updated on regulatory changes that impact licensing requirements; Managing the review of subcontracts, vendor agreements, service contracts, and property management agreements. Coordinating discovery responses and supporting litigation and dispute resolution processes by gathering and organizing information from internal team members.
Some things you can expect to do:
- Licensing
- Research, prepare, and submit license applications, renewals, and amendments across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracking system for all active and pending licenses.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to company practices as needed.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies, internal departments, and external partners to facilitate licensing processes.
- Coordinate with directors of construction, project managers and field teams to ensure licensing requirements are met prior to starting any new projects.
- Maintain digital records of licenses, applications, correspondence, and related documents.
- Assist in audits and inspections related to licensing compliance.
- Provide guidance to internal teams regarding licensing requirements and timelines.
- Litigation Support & Discovery Management:
- Organize and coordinate responses to subpoenas, discovery requests, and document production.
- Work closely with outside counsel, project teams, and internal departments to gather necessary documentation and information.
- Contract Management
- Evaluate and interpret legal language, proposed changes, and redlines from third parties in alignment with company policies and risk tolerance.
- Draft and recommend responses to legal comments in collaboration with internal legal counsel and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain standardized contract templates and assist in updating clauses based on evolving legal standards and business needs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of experience in a licensing, compliance, and legal support role-preferably in the construction or related industry.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for construction licensing across states.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently.
You will really stand out if you have:
- Experience with contractor licensing platforms or portals.
- Experience in the construction or related industry
- Notary Public certification.

Compensation:
The annual pay range is $66,000 - $83,000/yr. The base pay rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
