Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for organizing and directing the clinical activities of the Respiratory Care Services Department to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients requiring respiratory care. The Director manages the respiratory therapists and support personnel assigned to Respiratory Care Services. The Director works closely with the medical leadership and other clinical leaders and members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care in both the in-patient and ambulatory settings. This position consults as needed with other Johns Hopkins Health Systems Respiratory Care Departments to support clinical practice and initiatives.

Role Accountabilities Include




  • Works with Respiratory Care clinical staff to implement and evaluate respiratory care clinical programs and initiatives to meet the needs of patients and to be consistent with state-of-the-art patient care standards
  • Collaborates with the medical leadership and the Respiratory Care clinical staff to develop, validate, and implement clinical competency assessments to establish the clinical competence of all department care providers. Competencies will be specific to diagnostic and age-related needs of the patient population.
  • Serves as an educator, mentor, and resource relative to the current practice of respiratory care for respiratory care staff, physicians, advanced practice providers, medical residents, nurses, medical students, and respiratory therapy students. The Director participates in professional activities, including participating in clinical and research initiatives related to the assessment and treatment of respiratory care patients.
  • Develops and monitors contingency staffing plans (including strategies such as overtime and use of agency staffing) and contingency planning for reduction of patient services due to staffing shortfalls.
  • Represents the institution at state, regional, and national meetings by individual or collaborative presentations and or publication.
  • Develops and implements departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures; ensures that applicable hospital, governmental, and accrediting agency regulations are followed.
  • In consultation with the medical leadership and clinical staff, evaluates and selects equipment and supplies for the Respiratory Care Department.
  • Develops, justifies, and controls the annual operating and capital budget; assesses needs, determines priorities, and adjusts budgets as appropriate.



Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Joint Review Committee for the Certification of Respiratory Educational Programs (J.R.C.R.T.E.)
  • Minimum of five years of management experience at the manager level.


Salary Range: $135,000 per year - $155,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
