Charge Nurse- Residental Treatment Center

Monday- Friday

7am-3pm

Our comprehensive pediatric programs and services are designed to bring hope and healing to children and adolescents who face complex psychiatric, behavioral and neurodevelopmental disorders. We strive to cater our approach to treatment to the needs of each child who comes into our care.

Treatment programs at Laurel Heights Hospital are structured for youth ages 6-17 who are dealing with general psychiatric difficulties and trauma. We also offer specialty mental health programs for children with co-occurring neurodevelopmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Behavioral Health Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during the shift.

  • Communication with the Nurse Manager of unanticipated patient care events within the Acute unit.
  • Utilizes nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing and assignments
  • Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of staff and/or staff education as necessary
  • Collaborates with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services to patients
  • Enhances patient flow within the facility and efficient admission/discharge/transfer processes
  • Assesses patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation on a consistent basis
  • The Charge Nurse may perform direct patient care within scope of practice and clinical competency to ensure patient safety and patient/nurse ratios.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing either through ADN, Diploma or BSN Program.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current Georgia State Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse licensure. CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications.

EXPERIENCE
Required. Three years of inpatient psychiatric nursing and/or medical/surgical experience.
