Position Summary

The Accounting & Corporate Finance Internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounting and financial operations of a homebuilding company. As an intern, you will work closely with the accounting and corporate finance team to assist in monthly accounting tasks, forecasting, financial analysis and other key accounting processes essential to supporting our homebuilding and overall business operations.

Responsibilities

    Assist with recording journal entries for daily cash and wires
  • Assist with month-end tasks including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support financial reporting tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Assist with financial forecasting by analyzing past financial performance and projecting future costs and revenues
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports related to financial performance, cash flow, and profitability
  • Provide support for accounts payable and receivable processes, helping to ensure accurate billing and payment tracking
  • Contribute to the preparation of key reports for executive management and board or directors
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and documents required for audits and tax filings
  • Collaborate with other departments (Internal Audit, Division Finance, Construction, Sales, etc.) to gather data and support accounting and financial decision-making
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss key accounting tasks and ongoing team projects

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong interest in the homebuilding / real estate industry and the financial processes involved in homebuilding
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, financial modeling)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship or work experience in finance or accounting (not required)
  • Familiarity with homebuilding / real estate industry (not required)

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $20.00 - $25.00/hr
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Not eligible
