Environmental & Sustainability Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Affairs Intern to join our Corporate Environmental Affairs department. This role will provide valuable hands-on experience in sustainability initiatives, regulatory reporting, and database management. The intern will work closely with our team to support various environmental and sustainability projects.

Sustainability



  • Assist Corporate Environmental Affairs department with sustainability data collection and validation, carbon footprint calculation, and waste data analysis.


Regulatory Reporting



  • Assist Corporate Environmental Affairs department with reporting including:
  • Update of air and waste database values
  • Completion of SARA 312 reports
  • Completion of SARA 313 forms and database
  • Preparation of air emission and waste reports
  • Review and report out on trends in environmental audit findings
  • Develop key training materials for environmental and sustainability related topics


Support Sherwin-Williams database systems



  • Develop a general knowledge of Company-wide EHS, Sustainability and Business systems at both corporate and business unit levels
  • Develop technical knowledge and assist with data management in company systems:
  • Develop technical knowledge and assist with data management:
  • S-W CARES (Airlog, Waste Tracking or Sustainability Reporting)


Minimum Requirements



  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Enrolled in bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Industrial or Safety Engineering or Environmental, Biology or Geology
  • Minimum of 1 year of combined comprehensive professional or technical experience in chemical process safety, safety engineering and environmental and/or sustainability
  • Familiarity with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Health and Safety Administration resources and regulations
  • Experience with environmental, health and safety standards development
  • Ability to liaise effectively with representatives of other organizations (i.e. Federal agencies);
  • Ability to manage records from a variety of sources, including regulatory, internal and audit records.
  • Proficient with business software including Microsoft Word and Excel and conducting internet research. Familiar with Microsoft Access or other database software


Preferred Requirements



  • Risk analysis, risk assessment and risk decision-making tools, processes and systems
  • Operational, business and EHS management systems
  • Experience with implementing and training on enterprise database systems
  • Public speaking and team meetings
