Summary of Job Duties:A Research Technician position is available in Dr. Shengyu Mu's laboratory at the University of
Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology &
Toxicology. The Mu laboratory studies hypertension, cardiovascular and kidney diseases.
Applicant will be responsible for performing animal handling & basic operations, genotyping,
standard molecular biology techniques, cell culture, general laboratory maintenance, and
performing experiments as requested by the supervisor. Preference will be given to applicants
with experience in animal studies, cell culture, Western Blots, PCR, Flow Cytometry,
immunohistochemistry, and microscopy work. Candidates will need to be highly organized,
flexible, and motivated. Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency are required. Qualifications:
  • HS/GED PLUS two (2) years experience in performing tests in a research laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience in a lab or educational equivalent and experience working in animal handling, proteomics work or related biosciences.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mouse and rat handling, as well as basic surgical or procedural operations.

  • Conduct genotyping and standard molecular biology techniques, including western blotting and cell culture.

  • Carry out general laboratory maintenance and assist with day-to-day lab operations.

  • Support and perform experiments as requested by the supervisor.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in proteomics and metabolomics research.
