JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The University Park Fee Board (UPFB) is seeking two part-time student employees or interns to support our data analytics efforts in connection with a newly developed Power BI dashboard. These roles are instrumental in enhancing the Board's ability to make informed, student-centered funding decisions.

The analytics work will help the UPFB better understand trends in student engagement, funding allocations, request patterns, demographic insights, and outcomes related to student fees. These insights will contribute directly to strategic planning, resource distribution, equity initiatives, and overall transparency in the funding process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data management, analysis, and visualization skills to develop and standardize meaningful, user-friendly reports and dashboards for monitoring outcomes.
  • Continually refine the availability and quality of data used in decision-making by integrating both internal datasets and third-party sources.
  • Build queries and processes to extract and aggregate data from various sources, including:
    • Student engagement and funding request platforms.
    • Survey tools.
    • University dashboards and analytics systems.
    • Website and digital communications platforms.
  • Monitor and clean large data sets to ensure accuracy and efficiency in reporting. Collaborate with internal partners to identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to inform UPFB strategy and funding decisions.
  • Discover and communicate key patterns and insights, especially in areas related to equity, access, and impact.
  • Offer recommendations based on findings to support continuous improvement and student-centered outcomes.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, predictive modeling, data visualization, and reporting, with experience cleaning and manipulating large, complex datasets.
  • Advanced practical experience with BI and data analysis software (PowerBI, Excel, etc.) required. Proficiency in querying data stored in relational databases strongly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize patterns, and provide informed recommendations to support decision making.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to think critically, work independently and collaboratively, and solve problems creatively.
  • Excellent data visualization, report preparation, and written communication skills; ability to summarize and present analytic findings in ways that are accessible to non-technical audiences.
