About Manatee Memorial Hospital (MMH):

Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, has served the citizens of Manatee, Sarasota and surrounding counties for over 70 years. The 295-bed hospital with over 800 physicians, residents and allied health professionals, offers advanced healthcare services in a caring and compassionate environment. Services include cardiac care and cardiovascular medicine, emergency care for all ages, surgery services - including robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System, a weight-loss program, orthopedic services, outpatient and inpatient radiology and rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep, oncology, wound care and women's and children's services. Manatee Memorial Hospital also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies with special needs.

The Lead Pharmacist overseeing free-standing emergency departments (FEDs) plays a vital clinical and operational role, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication use across emergency care settings. The pharmacist collaborates closely with the healthcare team to optimize medication preparation, administration, prepackaging, distribution, transportation practices and formulary adherence. They maintain accurate medication profiles, and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations-including those governing controlled substances and sterile compounding. The role includes developing and revising policies, leading pharmacy services committees, completing audits and inspections, and participating in hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives. This position reviews and verifies medication orders, monitors drug therapies for appropriateness and safety, and provides timely pharmacological support. Additionally, the Lead Pharmacist supports pharmacoeconomic efforts, contributes to staff education, and fosters an environment of collaboration and respect. They are responsible for staying current with industry developments and integrating best practices into daily operations, while also addressing the educational needs of patients, families, and the healthcare team. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Job Information:

  • This position is for a full-time days Lead Pharmacist that will oversee the Free-Standing Emergency Departments
  • Minimum of one (1) year pharmacist experience in an acute care setting
  • Three (3) years of pharmacist experience in an acute acare setting, preferred

  • Bachelors degree, required
  • Masters degree, preferred
  • Current State of Florida Pharmacist License, required
  • Current State of Florida Consultant Pharmacist License or obtatined within 6-months
  • Board Certified Pharmacist, preferred
