Title: Pharmacist 1

Shift: Mon-Fri - 9 am - 5:30 pm
Summary:
- The main function of a pharmacist is to dispense prescription medications to patients and offer expertise in the safe use of prescriptions.
- They also may conduct health and wellness screenings, provide immunizations, oversee the medications given to patients, and provide advice on healthy lifestyles.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions. Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counsels patients on drug therapies.
- Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
- Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
- Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performing final verification of prescription orders including REMS, controlled substances, Home infusion
- Ensuring prescription orders are being completed on time to meet the need by date set by the patients
- Assisting in dispensing of medication. Printing pick tickets, finding the corresponding drug(s) / supplies, and inputting into computer software the correct qty, lot, and NDC of drug and supply lines.
- Assisting in all aspects of inventory management. Assists in receiving drug from supplier/carrier, unpacking, sorting, and receiving into computer system.
- Assists in putting the drugs and supplies on the shelf correctly and in an orderly manner.
- Assists in shipping by using the correct pack outs for refrigerated or ambient medications, restocks gel pack, restocks coolers.
- There is a company orientation. I will show them around the facility and show them their workstation. I will have them work with other team members on various stations to ensure they get an idea of how our day to day operations work.
