Assured Information Security (AIS) has an opening for a Research Scientist III to join our growing Machine Learning team! This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working onsite 3 days per week. In this position, you'll join a team of researchers focusing on several novel research efforts and will lead junior engineers in the execution of both internal and external projects. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to propose and contribute to new ideas for future research & development within the industry with the support of senior staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze problems and apply theoretical techniques to develop solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and provides mentorship to junior scientists.
  • Contribute to the development of technical status reports, project schedules and other deliverables.
  • Lead portions of research, publications, and proposals.
  • Self-direct tasking.
  • Coordinate broad phases of small projects with support from senior technical staff and perform research to maintain familiarity with the state-of-the art.

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or a related discipline and 5 years' experience in an engineering or scientific function, including research OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You have:
    • 3 years' experience applying Machine Learning techniques
    • 3 years years' experience with Python or equivalent scripting languages
    • 2 years' experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
    • 2 years' experience in leading small teams of scientist and/or engineers
    • Strong understanding of mathematics
    • Experience decomposing research problems to create research plan

Preferred Experience/Skillset:

  • Master's in Applied Mathematics
  • Experience with Deep Learning Techniques
  • Experience with Biometric Verification

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret DoD security clearance

Travel Required: Less than 10%

US Salary Range: $127,300 - 170,500

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
