Seeking a full-time Environmental Manager in support of Base Operations Services (BOS) and Mission Support Services (MSS) at Ascension Auxiliary Air Field (AAAF). Join our team and grow with us as we provide best in-class services that help clients solve their most complex challenges.

Your Impact

The Environmental Manager should actively protect and enhance the quality of the environment by adhering to all applicable regulatory requirements, and by preventing or controlling pollution at the fuel facilities. The manager shall immediately contact the COR upon notification of any violation. The manager shall support and participate in the local base Environmental Protection Plan, and the DLA-E Air Force Petroleum (AFPET) Mishap Reporting Systems. The manager shall comply with Base Environmental Protection Plan, DLA-E & AFPET requirements

  • Implement & monitor environmental policies, strategies, and programs in accordance with federal environmental regulations
  • Ensure contractor operations comply with the Environmental Management System (EMS), Installation Energy Plan, and sustainability requirements
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, risk evaluations, and sustainability audits.
  • Develop and oversee waste reduction, water conservation, pollution control, and hazardous materials management programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding waste disposal, air and water quality, hazardous materials handling, and emissions control.
  • Liaise with military environmental officers, and subcontractors to maintain compliance.
  • Lead energy efficiency initiatives, monitoring and optimizing energy consumption in base operations.
  • Identify and implement renewable energy solutions and conservation strategies to align with sustainability goals.
  • Ensure compliance with energy and water reduction mandates from military authorities.

Working Environment:

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

Physical Activities:

  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date.
  • Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date
  • Must be able to gain and maintain authorized entry onto US military installations.
  • Must meet United States Department of Defense medical requirements necessary to live and work at Ascension Island

Additional Required Qualifications

Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental compliance, energy conservation, or sustainability programs.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of government environmental regulations affecting industrial and military-related projects
  • Familiarity with U.S. Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Environmental Compliance Programs.
  • Understanding of U.S. DoD, U.S. Navy, NATO environmental policies.
  • Experience in hazardous material management, waste reduction emissions control, and pollution prevention.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy strategies and alternative energy solutions

Skills & Technology Used:

  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively with U.S. military officials, environmental regulators, subcontractors, and base leadership.
  • Strong technical writing skills for preparing reports and compliance documentation
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
