SQL Database Administrator

Abacus Technology is seeking a Database Administrator to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS) supporting Army IT operation at Fort Bragg. This is a full-time position.

Conduct database design studies to evaluate DBMS architectures, table structures, and indexing methods.
• Define and implement file organization standards, replication schedules, and access control policies.
• Develop and maintain data queries, stored procedures, and report generation formats.
• Monitor database usage, troubleshoot data compatibility and integrity issues, and apply performance enhancements.
• Ensure database security compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, DISA STIGs, and RMF security controls.
• Perform query optimization, indexing improvements, and storage management to enhance database performance.
• Implement database replication, backup strategies, and disaster recovery (DR) processes.
• Monitor and manage database resource utilization, preventing bottlenecks and performance degradation.
• Enforce database access control mechanisms, ensuring proper authentication and role-based access.
• Implement encryption, auditing, and data masking techniques to protect sensitive information.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and compliance audits.
• Maintain compliance with Army and DoD IT policies, RMF, and database security best practices.
• Define and document database administration policies and procedures for system security, performance tuning, and data integrity.
• Maintain technical documentation for database architectures, configurations, and optimization strategies.
• Provide guidance on database best practices, ensuring compliance with DoD data governance policies.
• Assist application developers in query development, stored procedures, and database integration.
• Provide training to IT personnel on database performance monitoring and troubleshooting best practices.
• Support users in creating and refining database queries for reporting and analytics.

3+ years experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of DBMS. Bachelor's degree in a related field desired. Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with IAT Level II). Must be Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate certified or able to obtain within six months of hire. Proficient in database query development, indexing methods, and performance optimization. Experience defining and implementing database security policies, access controls, and backup strategies. Able to troubleshoot data integrity issues, optimize query performance, and enforce compliance with Army data standards. Strong understanding of database replication, failover strategies, and storage management. Experience working with DoD or Army database environments, ensuring compliance with federal IT policies. Hands-on experience with SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and NoSQL database environments. Familiar with cloud-based databases, including AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
