Overview Abacus Technology is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic II to support the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure at Fort Bragg. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair network cabling, VoIP telephony systems, and fiber optic infrastructure.
Qualifications 3+ years experience in telecommunications, network cable installation, and OSP/ISP maintenance. Bachelor's degree in a related field desired. Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with IAT Level II). Must hold the following certifications: BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) and Installer 2 (INST2); BICSI Optical Fiber (INSTF); and JNCIA-Junos (JN0-103). Proficient in network cable installation, termination, and testing (CAT-6, fiber optic, and coaxial cables). Experience troubleshooting ISP/OSP infrastructure, including structured cabling, network drops, and telephony services. Strong understanding of BICSI, IEEE 802.11, and TIA/EIA industry standards for network and fiber optic installations. Able to work in confined spaces, follow safety procedures, and support emergency repair tasks. Experience with SIPRNET, NIPRNET, and secure network cabling environments. Familiar with military telecommunications standards, including network encryption and physical security measures. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
