Position summary:

Lead a team of strategically minded, financial valuation and modeling experts having enterprise-wide responsibility to create shareholder value by influencing the success of and executing on our key strategic growth projects. This leader will collaborate with business partners to understand the project or business, oversee and review the financial models and make strategic recommendations to key stakeholders on project viability based on the financial results and operational impact. They will be responsible for leading key strategic projects to success including mergers and acquisitions. Core technical requirements for the success in this role include team development, project management, stakeholder outreach, industry research, due diligence, risk assessments, financial analysis, deal negotiation, and enterprise integration activities. Core capabilities needed for success in this role include diplomacy, ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, influence others, leverage conflict resolution capabilities, and provide critical thinking and decisive, data driven recommendations.

Pay Range: $184,500 - $304,500 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Senior Vice President and CFO

Location: Rapid City, SD (Our corporate headquarters) or Denver, CO

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, lead and develop a financial valuation and modeling team with strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Provide complex financial and valuation modeling support for key strategic initiatives (e.g. Renewable Natural Gas, Data Centers and Blockchain, Generation and Transmission Opportunities, and Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures)
  • Oversee and communicate financial model lookback analysis results.
  • Participate in strategic growth discussions with both internal and external stakeholders to understand and incorporate the intent of the initiatives into the financial modeling process.
  • Review financial assumptions and outputs with the key stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Proactively partner and collaborate with key stakeholders to successfully complete key initiatives and incorporate outcomes into the financial planning processes.
  • Responsible for leading the completion of key initiatives assigned to team to achieve project objectives, scope, timeline and financial targets.
  • Research and screen corporate development prospects aligning with our strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and organizing special projects, large-scale acquisitions, mergers and divestiture evaluations, due diligence efforts and business integration efforts.
  • Coordinate development and delivery of presentations and written memos presented to senior management, the Board of Directors, the investment and financial community, and other stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Direct third-party experts as necessary to support strategic initiatives and integration (e.g. legal counsel, investment advisors, tax advisors, etc.)
  • Take an active role in positively conveying BHC's strategies and policies to our teams.
  • Willing to travel and work necessary overtime hours in a deadline-oriented environment.

What Is Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the areas of strategy, project management, finance and valuation, and deal execution and integration is required.

What Is Desired:

  • Experience in energy related or utility industries preferred.
  • Ability to achieve a strong understanding of the regulated utility business model.
  • Strong understanding of economic principles, financial analysis and valuation, and FERC and GAAP accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership abilities to guide and motivate project teams towards achieving project goals.
  • Knowledge of corporate systems and software used.
  • Exceptional ability to dissect complex problems, uncover underlying issues, and creatively solve problems.
  • Proven ability to inspire and lead teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Excellent, succinct communication skills to articulate the organization's vision, goals, and strategies to stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and identifying potential risks and opportunities during due diligence.
  • Must possess diplomatic negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Capable of applying strategic thinking to economic evaluations and financial planning.
  • Understanding of team dynamics and the importance of collaboration.
