Job Summary

To communicate with third party payers, patients, and hospital departments for timely resolution. Works with the mail room in sending out initial estate packages and bankruptcy packages, reviews accounts and loads insurance. Updates account data for vendor weekly reports in addition to assisting walk in patients and serving as call center phone back up. Processes received mail to include pre-certifications and patient correspondence. Maintains current knowledge of institutional/departmental policies, third party payer regulations and all regulatory billing requirements, and standard institutional and physician forms and processes.
Accountabilities
  • Must meet daily performance goals. Actively contributes to department goals. Effectively utilizes time and resources, assisting coworkers as time allows. Must be dependable.
  • Must understand and explain the account payment and settlement process to patient and third party payers. Responsible for setting up payments arrangements. Clearly documents all patient and billing information.
  • Responsible for daily time management, task management and completion. Must be able to effectively plan, organize, and execute position responsibilities.
  • Must follow departmental procedures and processes. Must be technically competent in all aspects of their respective duties and assignments. Must utilize computer systems to full potential including
  • being responsible for learning new computer techniques and programs as they become available.
  • Adheres to established guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to achieving superior customer satisfaction. Clearly communicate billing and posting issues to supervisor/team leader. Maintain positive, cooperative demeanor and attitude at all times.
  • All policies and procedures will be strictly adhered to. HIPAA, security, dress code, etc. will be conscientiously followed. Understands, promotes, and adheres to all matters of compliance with laws andregulations. Demonstrates the highest of business ethics and good judgment with integrity.
  • Regularity and punctuality in reporting to work and returning from breaks is expected. Regular meeting attendance and participation is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Education

High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred

Minimum Experience

One year related experience.

Other Required Skills

Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills. Must be a team player.
