Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Department Administrator for the Learning Centers. The Department Administrator oversees all functions of one of the four Learning Centers (LC) and reports to the Assistant Director of Administrative Planning.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and supervises student workers (office assistants and supervisors), as well as overseeing the daily operations of the Center.
- Maintains the Center's budget and develops policies and procedures unique to managing the Center.
- Manages the scheduling and use of the designated Center and coordinates space usage with campus partners.
- Ensures successful data collection, reporting, purchasing, and maintenance of the Center.
- Provides administrative support to Learning Centers' academic support programs as needed.
- Each department administrator has responsibilities for the administrative assistance of one of the core programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- A bachelor's degree.
- At least two years' administrative experience preferred, preferably in an academic setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Proficiency with MS Office products, electronic communication methods, and internet browsers, as well as the ability to learn new software as needed.
- The ability to multitask and meet deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends when necessary.

- Experience in education or business administration.
- Experience independently managing an educational center or program.
- Experience supervising student employees.
- Ability to learn and use new technologies quickly and efficiently.

Equipment Utilized |
- This position will utilize our kiosks and data management system on a regular basis to schedule appointments, track Center usage, and prepare reports.
- This position is also required to use RIAS for payroll preparation and purchasing, as well as our effective budget system to track spending and manage the Center's budget.
- This position will also be required to set up projectors, laptops, computing spaces, and collaborative work areas when spaces are reserved.
- This position must also have a working knowledge of all demonstrations and technologies used at the Centers.
