POSITION DESCRIPTION

University of California, San Francisco Department of Medicine-Hematology/Oncology

Non-Malignant (Classical) Hematology - Leadership Position in Hemostasis and Thrombosis

The Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco is seeking a faculty member to join our federally funded (Health Resources & Services Administration; HRSA) hemophilia treatment center within our section of non-malignant (classical) hematology. The applicant is expected to have substantial experience in hemostasis (bleeding) disorders and will have a leadership role as Assistant Medical Director of our center. Extensive thrombosis experience is a plus as we are evolving our activities into a hemostasis/thrombosis center. Applicants with a track record in clinical or basic research in hemostasis or thrombosis are particularly encouraged to apply.

Our federally recognized hemophilia treatment center/bleeding disorders center was founded in the 1970s and has a long track record of outstanding care and contributions to national and international efforts in the bleeding disorders community. We have an active interdisciplinary clinic with our high-risk obstetrics faculty and are expanding similar activities with gynecology.

Our center is part of HRSA's Western States region.

Our center has its own 340B program that helps support our wide range of patient care activities and staff, including RN, NP, Physical Therapist, Social worker, and administrative staff. We have our own clinical research team that supports our clinical research activities.

The faculty member will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of Hematology and Oncology fellows, residents, and medical students as well as contribute to the division's annual retreat. The Division of Hematology and Oncology has a large fellowship program with a strong record of training fellows who have gone on to full-time academic positions as well as leadership positions in biotechnology companies. In addition to clinical activities within the bleeding disorders clinic, the applicant will attend on the inpatient hematology consult service and in our outpatient non-malignant (classical) hematology clinic.

Candidates must be ABIM eligible or certified in Hematology.

Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
