The manufacturing facility is located at 100 JCI Way, York, Pennsylvania, totaling 284,000 square feet (266,000 manufacturing), with over 350 employees. What you will do You will manage activities and allocate resources within the Manufacturing Engineering Team to develop and meet Divisional, Site, and Value Stream goals. You will lead a group of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians driving continuous improvement, waste reduction, and process optimization initiatives as well as driving cultural and behavioral changes that support a Lean transformation journey which enable our organization to achieve sustainable success. You will design and develop tools, controls, equipment, and processes to support manufacturing fabrication and assembly operations of commercial Johnson Controls Air Handling Units. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to team development, performance management, and organizational leadership responsibilities. You will work closely with the manufacturing operations team with a Lean mindset in developing new production methods, workstream consolidation layouts, and interfacing with the quality control staff to establish standards and resolve manufacturing issues. How you will do it
Responsible for managing Manufacturing Engineering personnel and Lean Manufacturing Professionals. Conduct regular Gemba walks and Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement and identify waste reduction opportunities on the shop floor. Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan. Provide direction and guidance to technician and engineering staff who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Align resources and identifies opportunities for improvement within the existing processes and systems. Build strong relationships and collaborates with cross-functional teams including Safety, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, New Product Introduction, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team, Supplier Engineering, and Continuous improvement functions. Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic initiatives by aligning plant strategies with organizational goals. This involves creating a clear sense of direction, focusing on key performance indicators, and driving continuous improvement. Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to identify areas of waste or inefficiency. Use data to optimize productivity, innovation, and supply management. Ensure that inputs from all internal and external customers are understood, plans are appropriately developed and drives accountability and execution to plans. Utilize excellent communication skills, demonstrating leadership communicating both up and down the organization. Influence, guide, and manage internal/external resources to achieve program goals. Provide significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches. Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent. What we look for Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent degree preferred 8+ years' manufacturing and production operations and/or manufacturing engineering experience including at least 4 years' successful supervisory/management experience of manufacturing engineers Demonstrated expertise in Lean methodologies and tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kanban, Standardized Work, Leader Standard Work, etc. Demonstrated track record of project management execution and a high-level of performance in current and previous positions Must have hands-on experience in cost estimating, project management, contract negotiations and interaction with product vendors Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives Strong project management skills and experience leading large-scale Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives with ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) Experience with manufacturing process improvement and production tools
