Overall Function

The Safety Inspector C is responsible for inspecting work areas and work practices to ensure compliance with safety rules, regulations, and organizational objectives. The role involves preparing and maintaining safety-related reports and documentation. The Safety Inspector C operates under the general supervision of a Safety Manager.

Typical Duties

* Instruct employees and supervisors on proper safety practices and techniques.

* Ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations.

* Monitor and enforce adherence to company safety rules and procedures.

* Investigate employee complaints regarding unsafe working conditions when necessary.

* Respond to workplace safety or security emergencies.

* Inspect designated areas for fire-prevention equipment and ensure availability and condition of other safety and first-aid supplies.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to safety, health, environment, and workers' compensation.

* Good understanding of plant operations, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.

* Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and to generate complete and timely safety reports.

* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels.

Experience & Training

* Completion of a standard educational curriculum supplemented with training in first-aid.

* Previous experience in facility inspections, safety administration, or a related field.

* Minimum 1 year equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
