This role serves as sales manager and coach for a team of C & I lenders and treasury management/merchant services and ensures sales production objectives are achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages staff of commercial bankers and ensures the team drives execution of sales activities, portfolio expansion, portfolio quality, revenue growth, and other performance targets, resulting in the maintenance of proper pipelines and customer engagement in the following business lines: standard lending, SBA lending, commercial deposits, treasury management, merchant services and credit cards. Provides sales advice and coaching and imparts an extensive knowledge base of the products and services offered to effectively meet customer needs. Develops and implements plans to manage portfolios of business customers within market of varying complexity and nature, focusing on increasing product penetration, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Creates and implements a targeted plan to contact prospects in sufficient quantity to achieve financial objectives. Upholds credit policy and lending guidelines, maintaining a balanced approach to risk management. Focuses on customer retention, in particular high value customers, by executing a consistent and effective client contact strategy including occasional business entertainment which may occur after normal business hours. Develops and monitors the department budget, as well as, setting sales and revenue goals, and ensures all targets are achieved or exceeded. Works with credit teams to recommend credit proposals, review existing credit situations, and monitor customers' risk profile on an on-going basis. Ensures compliance with credit and regulatory guidelines. Participates in community organizations and activities in the markets served to promote the brand and establish the Bank in the business banking market. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the commercial banking department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bank's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in finance or related area from an accredited college or university is required. Position requires an individual with at least 7 years of progressively responsible roles in management of a business sales team, with effective results demonstrated. Requires effective collaborative, strategic-minded, and results-oriented leadership experience within commercial banking. Knowledge of accounting, financial statement and cash flow analysis required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong managerial, organization, analytical, negotiation, credit, communication, teamwork and influencing skills. Knowledge of and ability to manage all levels of credit complexity in the Business Banking segment. Ability to lead and motivate staff, fostering a teamwork atmosphere with a high degree of sales management skills. Able to formulate business and marketing strategies along with coordinating and controlling a range of activities in an independent manner.
