General Purpose of Job: Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Anesthesia Services to ensure efficient, effective operations. Supervise and direct daily work of anesthesia tech/aides to develop, implement best practice guidelines and maintain in-service training program by overseeing the training of staff in the roles and responsibilities of anesthesia technologist.
Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Provide direction, training, and continual guidance to team members.
- Prepares/delegates unit schedule, ensuring appropriate needs for patient care are met 24/7.
- Responsible to see that work assignments are carried out within established guidelines.
- Monitors daily individual performance and resource utilization and is accountable for the results.
- Maintains an atmosphere that supports and encourages high performance, teamwork, and continual improvement of all team members.
- Assists in communicating shared vision, mission and values within department, which motivates others to achieve strategic goals.
- Assists team members with duties as needed
- Monitors patient satisfaction and patient complaints to ensure they are handled appropriately.
- Monitors employee performance, provide counselling, coaching, recognition and avenues for improvement.
- Issues corrective action pursuant to the HR policy and/or collective bargaining agreement.
- Assists in development of departmental budget and goals.
- Initiate and lead department with quality assurance, and process improvement.
- Continuous communication with DIR-Anesthesia, Anesthesiologist, residents, CRNAs, SRNAs and anesthesia tech/aids to ensure issues or safety concerns are addressed.
- Responds to requests from team members in a timely fashion.
- Coordinates with Supply Chain to maintain and revise inventory par levels for all supplies and equipment.
- Works with Supply Chain and to find alternative products/equipment necessary to maintain anesthesia equipment.
- Works with Supply Chain to present cost saving opportunity with different anesthesia equipment/products.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
General Requirements |
* Certified as an anesthesia technician by the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians (ASATT) * BLS |
Work Experience |
5 years' experience as an Anesthesia Technician and two years leadership experience |
Education |
* High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members, physicians, families, patients and visitors. * Leadership/team building skills. * Further development of planning, organizing, staffing, evaluating and budgeting skills may be required. * Strong systems focus and perspective, with ability to think strategically. * Demonstrated strong analytical and financial skills. * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. |
