Sr. Director Business Technology Partner

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Business Technology Partner to serve as a Segment Technology Leader within our Commercial Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business segments and technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration, effective escalation management, and translating business needs into innovative technical solutions.

Acts as the go-to person and subject matter expert for individual products or specific technologies in their domain. Strong understanding of the key business drivers and underlying technologies. Drives the definition, agreement and implementation of technology strategy. Makes appropriate use of industry and corporate standards and best practice. Applies appropriate technical governance processes.

About the Role

As aSr. Director Business Technology Partner you will:

  • Serve as the primary technology liaison for assigned business segments (Corporates, Legal, Tax, Audit & Accounting Professionals & Other). Understand segment priorities and ensure technology solutions align with business objectives. Foster strong relationships with segment leaders and stakeholders, translating business needs into technology solutions in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Communicates solutions, architectural direction, and technology strategy through formal and informal means to business unit executives, technology management, peers and development staff, and other colleagues.
  • Collaborate with segment/technology leaders to prioritize and plan technology initiatives that support business goals. Work with cross-functional teams to implement pilots, proof of concepts (POCs), and minimum viable products (MVPs).
  • Act as the point of contact for technology-related escalations within the segment, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Implement structured processes for tracking, prioritizing, and resolving escalations. Ensure timely communication with all stakeholders during critical incidents. Conduct post-mortem analyses to prevent recurring issues.
  • Champions significant projects and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity.
  • Identifies the organizational resources, structures and cultural change necessary to support the enterprise architecture and takes ownership as a change agent.
  • Lead efforts to integrate and align technology solutions with business strategies, leveraging industry best practices. Provide guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring successful delivery of technology projects. Identifies where technology visions and strategy might require course correction.
  • Leads the selection, evaluation, and implementation of technology. Contributes, influences, or directs a variety of projects concurrently
  • Facilitate projects that span multiple pillars, ensuring cohesive and integrated solutions. Partner with other technology leaders to share insights and drive continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate awareness of business drivers, competitive threats, changing customer needs and future business strategies.
  • Stays abreast of technology trends and their potential impact and opportunities on the organization.
  • Guides investment of engineering and architecture resources.
  • Consults with management on project feasibility.
  • Partners with management to define best practices for project metrics, estimation, and implementation.
  • Develops and delivers formal and informal technical training, presentations, and white papers to both internal and external audiences.

About You

You're a fit for this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in a strategic technology leadership role, with a proven track record of driving technology strategy and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of business processes and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience with strategic planning and prioritization of technology initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning applications and their strategic application in business segments.
  • Understanding of Digital Ethics, Responsible Technology development, and green IT practices is an asset.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity trends and integrating security posture into business technology planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with core platforms such as SAP, Salesforce, and Conga is a plus.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $154,000 - $286,000.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
