Job Summary Job Description The Director of Power Fundamentals is responsible for developing & maintaining the Company's modeling tools and advising on power fundamentals that are used as inputs to the Company's long-range plans, commercial hedging and trading strategies, and M&A decisions Key Accountabilities:
- Develops, analyzes & models operational, economic, management, financial, and other data to quantify impacts on the PJM market and plant P&L
- Lead the process of developing the Company's short and long-term power fundamental views for PJM and other markets as needed for M&A activities, company planning, asset optimization and hedging decisions
- Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling, and business and financial analytic skills to manage and manipulate complex, high volume data from a variety of internal and external sources
- Uses fundamental market knowledge, data analytics, and various modeling tools to help achieve corporate growth objectives
- Maintain knowledge of PJM market rules and the impact of proposed rule changes or other fundamental changes to power fundamental point of views
- Develop, maintain & run the PSO model or other fundamental modeling software as required
- Engage senior management and other relevant stakeholders throughout the organization to present and explain fundamental trends in the power markets and advise on impact on company decisions
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, economics, business, mathematics, statistics, or other related technical field
- 7 + years of progressive experience or any other equivalent experience and training which provides a commensurate level of knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Experience with economic supply, demand and pricing, macro and micro drivers of the economy and power industry in particular, analysis to produce points-of-view and support investment decisions including capital projects and M&A activity
- Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
- Excellent knowledge of wholesale and retail energy markets with experience in multiple geographies
- Advanced technological skills in MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, SQL, and MATLAB
- Fundamental modeling skills with programs such as PSO, GE-MAPS, PROMOD, Aurora, or similar, is a plus
