Overview

Shure is seeking a dedicated Senior Reliability and Product Quality Testing Engineer to join our Corporate Quality department.

You'll play a key role in developing and maintaining reliability tests and procedures, optimizing test equipment to align with real-world usage, and continuously improving our reliability tests. You'll collaborate with and mentor Quality Engineers and Lab Technicians, advising on product reliability and test plan development. Responsibilities

    Develop, implement, and maintain reliability tests and procedures.
  • Identify and evaluate new lab equipment capabilities, recommend suitable equipment and manufacturers, and provide financial justifications for acquisitions. Oversee the procurement, implementation, and retirement of lab equipment as needed, ensuring all necessary tools for comprehensive reliability testing are available. Procure, establish, and retire equipment as appropriate.
  • Understand, document, and articulate the correlation between reliability tests and customer use cases and product life expectancy.
  • Conduct correlation studies on reliability tests to ensure that the relationship between tests and actual field use are well-understood.
  • Conduct studies to ensure that tests are repeatable and reproducible in all test lab locations.
  • Interact with customer feedback avenues outside and within Shure such as Service Dept., Product Applications, and Global Product Marketing to understand field failure issues and trends.
  • Review customer service data to understand field product performance and identify product reliability testing enhancements as well as influence product design improvements.
  • Provide failure rate and/or MTBF calculations to supporting departments on as needed basis.
  • Participate in benchmarking of industry best practices in reliability engineering and adoption of these best practices at Shure.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive product (and Component level) test plans to meet Shure Quality standards and provide insightful risk assessments from a reliability perspective on testing results.
  • Conduct comprehensive use case testing to assess the reliability and ergonomic quality of the design solutions.
  • Support root cause analysis, failure analysis and problem resolution for customer issues.
  • Conduct research to evaluate quality standards and procedures to ensure their effectiveness. Insures that established processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that all reliability procedures are properly documented to ensure uniformity among all Quality associates.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support on using reliability principles and procedures within and outside the Quality division.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, Industrial Engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, with good knowledge of industry practices, using reliability tools, such as, Weibull Analysis, Life data analysis, Accelerated Life testing (ALT), Mean Time between Failure (MTBF) and process capability studies. As well as Quality tools, such as, root cause analysis (8 Discipline (8D), Define Measure Analyze Improve Control (DMAIC), Plan Do Check Act (PDCA)), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R)
  • Three to five years of experience in the basic use of audio, acoustical, and RF principles.
  • ASQ Certification as a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience in using MS Excel, ReliaSoft and Minitab to store, process, analyze, and report data. Strong knowledge of working with other Microsoft office products is also required.
  • Very strong data analysis skills. Ability to detect changes and trends and determine their importance.
  • Team player and Self-motivated
  • Able to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data or situations require evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for difficult and diverse assignments
  • Conflict resolution skills is a must
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with advanced English language proficiency (written and spoken)
  • Organizing skills
  • Willing and capable of domestic and international air and ground travel.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry's top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary range for this position is between $77,800 - $151,400. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this opportunity. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
