Position Description
Responsible for supervising operation of the waste water treatment systems. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety procedures, and corporate policies. Coordinates maintenance and operational activities to ensure safe and efficient operations of the waste water treatment facilities. Supports Results Lab operations, functions, and special projects at the direction of Results Lab Group Supervisor.
Essential Tasks:
Responsible for overall operations of the waste water treatment systems. Ensures that all safety, environmental, and availability goals are met. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements. Develops and enforces efficient operating procedures and guidelines. Supports Results Lab operations, functions, and special projects at the direction of Results Lab Group Supervisor. Provides technical direction, consultation, and training for operators, mechanics, and E&I technicians. Ensures technical and professional skill development of waste water system workforce to maintain a high level of competence. Ensure all personnel maintain proper licenses for water treatment and testing. Coordinates troubleshooting and repair efforts with maintenance and operations. Provides supervisory guidance for preventive maintenance programs. Evaluates maintenance trends and recommends changes to increase equipment availability and reduce operating and maintenance costs. Performs administrative duties as necessary such as purchasing requisitions, performance appraisals, time sheets, employee consultations. Recommends employment, promotions, discipline, corrective action, and wage and salary adjustments for waste water treatment system personnel. Communicates effectively through clear, concise, comprehensive verbal and written instructions. Communicates non-compliance events, public/media issues, and environmental testing/inspection activities to facility management team members and corporate personnel. Advises management of waste water system conditions and communicates with the plant operations about impacts to the generating station. Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of all required routine and non-routine environmental documentation and reports to corporate and regulatory agencies. Ensure all EMIS tasks assigned are completed in a timely manner. Oversees performance of all lab procedures pertaining to the waste water treatment system, including sampling, testing, reporting, quality assurance, and auditing. Promotes safety by conducting and documenting weekly safety meetings, enforcing proper use of personal protective equipment, and ensuring safe working conditions. Maintains 24 hour / day on-call status for emergency work at night, on weekends, and holidays. Supervises housekeeping of all waste water treatment system facilities. Supervises and coordinates contract labor and services.
Position Requirements
Bachelors degree in engineering or science related field +6 years industrial experience required. Associates Degree +8 years industrial experience required. Supervisory, communication, technical and administrative skills are required. A-Level physical and chemical waste water treatment licenses preferred upon hire or must pass A-Level license exam within 1 year of employment. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevations below and above grade and must be able to accommodate overtime and 24 hour on call status. Valid SC Driver's license required.
Compensation Information
$102,560 - $128,200 (min. - med.)
