Head of North America Professional Lines Pricing Job Family Grouping: Actuarial Job Family: Pricing How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The pricing team has responsibility for developing consistent, worldwide pricing and portfolio management practices across AXIS, and is primarily responsible for Pricing Models, Case Pricing, New Business Development, Product Monitoring, Portfolio Management, Business Planning, and Price Monitoring. The pricing team interacts extensively with other functions including underwriting, reserving, risk management, capital modelling, and finance.

What will you do in this role?
  • This role has direct responsibility for pricing and portfolio management of Professional Lines Insurance business (GWP~$700m) written across North America through retail, wholesale, and delegated channels.
  • This also includes management responsibility for two pricing analysts.
  • The business includes a broad spread of covers, including Commercial D&O, Financial Institutions, E&O, and Transactional Liability.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:
  • At least 10 years' experience in an actuarial Professional Lines role; strong preference for pricing experience in products and territories that are prominent in AXIS North America Professional Lines portfolio.
  • Fellow of a relevant actuarial organisation.
  • Leadership experience in managing teams and responsibility for a function.

  • Strong organisation and leadership skills. Ability to motivate others and bring them along.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to establish credibility with underwriters, clients, and senior management.
  • Self-starter, proactive with proven thought leadership. Ability to develop, recommend, and implement new approaches.
  • Passion for pushing the boundaries of actuarial analysis and tools. Advanced knowledge of pricing techniques used in Professional Lines.
Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Lead pricing and portfolio management across North America Professional Lines, with responsibility for pricing models, case pricing, rate monitoring, portfolio monitoring, and business planning.
  • Define and implement best practice for pricing analysis, pricing metrics, and rate monitoring that is aligned to broader AXIS standards.
  • Bring together analysis and considerations from different disciplines (underwriting, pricing, reserving, claims, exposure management) to support portfolio management decisions, including risk appetite, portfolio construction, expansion into new products and territories, cession strategy, and strategic business plans.
  • Support wider Professional Lines initiatives and projects, and assessment of new opportunities.
  • Contribute to wider actuarial projects across AXIS as a member of the Pricing Team, including direct responsibility for individual initiatives such as pricing platform, pricing metrics, loss trend, risk appetite, capital allocation, and business planning.
What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 275 to 300 (NY). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
